How we got our name
When I was a kid growing up on a farm in Michigan, my mother, Rose, was the ultimate homesteader—not because it was trendy, but because it was necessary. With five children to feed, clothe, and care for, she did it all: grew our food, made our soap, and even made some of our clothes. All with quiet determination.
I remember walking beside her through the fields, stopping at the row of sassafras trees. She would snap a few leaves and hand me one to chew—it tasted just like root beer.
This memory, and the values she lived by, are the roots of this store. Sassafras Holler is my tribute to her love, her strength, and her unwavering work ethic.
